The virus played us like a deck of cards. We were startled and ill prepared. Who would have thought it could happen again, after a hundred years. We begged for time but the virus refused. It went all-in with dizzying speed. For almost a year planet Earth was in shock and we folded in helpless despair. 

But there is a reason that we have survived through unspeakable times of grief. Humanity always reaches a point where it stands up and chooses to fight. So just when the virus thought it had won, we dealt it a striking blow. The full house was not what it seemed anymore ... the cards were fighting back.
